Comparison of MANET Routing Protocols Used in Home Health-Monitoring System for Elderly Patients
Abstract: Lately, many researchers have focused on implementing the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) in medical applications. However, Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) promise to revolutionize health care in the near future. WBAN medical applications show great promise in improving the quality of life of people and satisfying many requirements of elderly people by enabling them to live safely, securely, healthily and independently. In this paper, we have simulated and analyzed well-known MANET routing protocols in WBAN of elderly long-term health monitoring system to determine which of them is much efficient to overcome MANET challenges in the medical applications. Various performance parameters used for comparison such as end-to-end delay, throughput, and packet loss ratio.
