Catalytic alkylation of 1-naphthol with Methanol Over Ni1-XMnXFe2O4 Type Ferrites

Abstract: Vapor phase alkylation of 1-naphthol with methanol was investigated over Ni1-XMnXFe2O4 (x = 0.0, 0.50, 1.0) type ferrites system.2-Methyl-1-naphthol was found to be the major product. The maximum yield 53.0 % of 2-methyl-1-naphthol with 78.2 % selectivity was obtained under optimized parameters at a temperature of 573 K, molar ratio 31 and WHSV 0.4 h-1.
