Green Synthesis of ZnO Nanoparticles Using Sollanam Santhocarbom to Study Its Solarphotocatalytic Activity

Karthiga Rajendaran, Sudha Annamalai

Abstract: ZnO nanoparticles were prepared through a facile one part green synthesis method with assistance of sollanam santhocarbom plant. The as synthesized ZnO was subjected to UVvisible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UVvis-DRS), fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-Ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS). The solar photocatalytic activity of nanoparticles was evaluated by degradation of Fuchsine (FU) in aqueous solution. The plant extract modified ZnO exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity under sunlight illumination with a dye concentration of 10m/L and it follows pseudo first order kinetic
