On the Weaknesses in Error Detection and Correction in the ISBN-13

Abstract: The ISBN-13 uniquely identifies books published internationally since 2007. Kamaku (2012) discussed on key properties of this code as far as error detection is concerned. This paper extends their work and analyses the error detection and correction capabilities of this code and goes on discuss major weaknesses in both error detection and correction and then shows that the code does not guarantee both.
