Abstract: GDM is a problem that affects a significant number of women during pregnancy. Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) occurs when a womans pancreatic function is not sufficient to overcome the diabetogenic environment of pregnancy. GDM is defined as glucose intolerance that was not present or recognized prior to pregnancy. The aim of present study was to determine the prevalence of gestational diabetes mellitus in polycystic ovary syndrome. The study was a retrospective observational study and conducted at Disha fertility & Surgical Center Indore and other hospitals like CHL Apollo. Assessment of random blood sugar, fasting blood sugar, Post Prandial, oral GTT, glucose load test, HbA1c & risk factor were done during 24 -28th week of gestation in GDM and Non GDM group. Significant increases were observed in all the type of glucose testing in GDM group as compared to control and Non GDM group. Gestational diabetes mellitus has a high prevalence in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome. A consensus between early detection and classification criteria to standardize the diagnosis should be sought.
