Additive Effect of Oropharyngeal Exercises with Aerobic Training on Sleep Quality in Individuals with High Risk of Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Abstract: Background: Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) is a common form of sleep disorders. The most common risk factors for OSA include obesity, poor physical fitness, cigarette smoking and use of alcohol. so the aim of present study was to see the effects of oropharyngeal exercises and aerobic exercises on sleep quality in patients with high risk of sleep apnea. Methodology: 60 participants both males and females were included in the study who were at high risk of Obstructive sleep apnea on Berlins questionnaire. patients were excluded if diagnosed to have any psychiatric or psychological illness, craniofacial malformations, nasal congestion, and throat infection or on sedatives, having recent cardiovascular or neurological conditions. Group A were given oropharyngeal exercises along with aerobic exercise and Group B was given aerobic exercise i. e. walking. Results: pairedt test was done for intragroup comparison and intergroup analysis was done using Mann Whitney u test. Significant difference was seen in group A (p
