The Plan and Facade Typology on Traditional Ottoman - Turkish Houses: A Field Study in K?rklareli

Abstract: K?rklareli is a city known from the neolithic period (6000 BC), which is known to people to live in there in the Chalcolithic, Bronze and Iron Ages. Thracian tribes existence here to permanent settlement area in Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman times. From the second half of the 14th century in the Ottoman period, the town's part to know as Yayla Quarter shows an intensive settlement characteristic. Turks, Jews, Greeks and Bulgarians lived together in and around this quarter. The quarter was declared an urban conservation area in 1996. This study includes the examination of the on-site inspection and fixation, the drawing of plans and facades or the drawing and checking of the plan and fa?ade properties of the traditional ottoman houses located in the K?rklareli Yayla Quarter.
