Study about the Maintenance of Heritage Buildings in Iraq

Abstract: The conservation of heritage buildings is an established method to protect a historic structure through restoration and maintenance works. We can identified maintenance as a key intervention in protecting historic structure by prolonging a building lifespan. Maintenance activities are being carried out continuously to ensure that the building can function effectively at all time. The maintenance activities aim to keep the heritage buildings in the original condition without altering the original structure and design. Thus to achieve this, an effective and systematic maintenance is required in addition to the high maintenance cost. This study focuses on historic buildings in Iraq.
