Theoretical Insight of Organometallic Complexes in Pharmacy

Himanshu Bhogekar

Abstract: In the modern type of inorganic chemistry where metals, which acts as central atoms, bind with various ligands according to their valencies and coordination number. The chemical compound form by the binding of metals and ligands, called as metal complexes. There are different types of metal complexes that were formed. These metal complex formations are considered as an important and challenging domain in the modern era of inorganic chemistry. Normally these metal complexes are found in mineral, kingdom of plants and animal. The diseases like Carcinomas, Lymphomas, Infection control, Diabetes, Anti-inflammatory and Neurological disorders. The platinum complexes (Pt), Gold complexes (Au), Technetium and rhenium complexes (Tc & Re), Ruthenium complexes (Ru), Gadolinium complexes (Gd) etc. are used nowadays in effective therapy of harmful diseases. To check the invited efficacy of metal complexes, various analytical methods such as Single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) is used. It determines the arrangement of atoms of a crystalline solid in three-dimensional space in three-dimensional and measures the interatomic distances.
