Effect of Thermoelastic Behavior on Interfacial Debonding and Particulate Fracture in AA1100/TiN Nanoparticulate Metal Matrix Composites

The present work was to assess the effect of thermoelastic behavior on interface debonding and nanoparticulate fracture in AA1100/titanium nitride nanoparticulate metal matrix composites. TiN is used for making of artificial limbs, biological materials and cutting tools. The RVE models were used to analyze thermo-elastic behavior. The stiffness of AA1100/titanium nitride nanoparticle metal matrix composites decreased with the increase of temperature. The debonding of interface/interphase between AA1100 alloy matrix and TiN nanoparticle was observed at temperatures ranging from 0oC to 200oC. Fracture of TiN nanoparticulates was witnessed above 200oC heating of the composites.
