Comprehensive Study of Zero Energy Buildings or Carbon Neutral Buildings (CEB) by using Life Cycle Assessment Tool
Ar. Disha Ashok Kumar Barik
Abstract: Zero Energy Buildings or Carbon Neutral Building (CEB) does this concept really exists In recent times, Zero-Energy Building concept has become a popular catchphrase to describe the synergy between energy-efficient building and renewable energy utilisation to achieve a balanced energy. There are various definitions of ‘zero energy’ buildings. In most cases, the definition refers only to the energy that is used in the operation of the building, ignoring the wider perspective of energy use related to pre-construction and post-construction of the building which includes issues such as extraction, manufacturing, processing and transportation of materials which also requires some amount of energy. This sum amount of energy which exists in materials from its initial raw stage till its final finished product which is been used at site possess energy which is termed as “Embodied Energy”. This research paper mainly focuses on the Hypothetical concept of “Zero Energy” Buildings with its qualitative assessment through life cycle assessment tool.
