Prevalence of Congenital Anomalies at a Tertiary Care Centre in Tamil Nadu, South India

According to WHO congenital Anomalies are defined as structural (or) functional anomalies including metabolic disorders which are present at the time of birth. This study included the patients admitted with detected anomalous fetus in Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai. Over all prevalence of congenital anomalies in GRH is 6 % Central Nervous system is the most commonly affected system. Congenital diaphragmatic hernia was the most common lethal congenital anomaly. Male fetus had a higher Incidence of anomalies.
