Challenges to Teaching English Literature in Sudan from a Teachers Perspective: A Case Study of Khartoum University

This study investigates the teachers' perspectives on the challenges of teaching English literature in Sudan. The study adopts a qualitative methodology using structured interviews for data collection. Four faculty members were interviewed and the collected data were synthesized, and analyzed with the purpose of finding out about the challenges in the teaching of English literature in the University of Khartoum, a representative of universities in Sudan. The focus was mainly on the difficulties, which both the teachers and their students encounter along the English literature teaching-learning process and the potential solutions to them. The findings showed a variety of challenges facing the teaching of English literature in Khartoum University. However, most of the challenges were in line with the challenges facing similar institutions in many parts of the globe.
