Power in Neo-Pentecostalism and African Traditional Religion: A Nigerian Case Study

s Pentecostalism is one of the major branches of Christianity in Nigeria that is experiencing rapid growth. One of the serious questions on it concerns the factors that have been responsible for its rapid growth. This paper investigates whether or not parity exists between the concept of power as understood by African Traditional Religion and Neo-Pentecostalism in Nigeria. First the paper identifies and discusses the conceptualization of power in ATR. Second, this paper identifies and discusses power in Neo-Pentecostalism in Africa. Third, the paper assesses the concept of power in ATR and power in Neo-Pentecostalism in order to determine whether or not parity exists between their concepts of power.
