The monastery order was first by the Egyptian Orthodox church. The establishment of these monasteries started at the end of the 5th century with the rival of the nine saints from Syria; Egypt; and Greco-Roman territory. The presence of Abune Tekle Haimanot monastery in the Aleltu Woreda plays a significant role for development of Christianity religion for the local people and people of Ethiopia in general.
